Women In Digital Workplace: Interview With Camille Tan
Start Up: How Social Media Helped Camille Elevate Her Career
Camille is a Business Development Trainee who develops various products for her organization. Aside from having a full-time job, Camille runs an online store that sells beauty products. “I was doing freelance make-up artist for a while among my part-time jobs and school. And I thought that it would be a good idea to work towards that field.” Having an e-commerce job helped her finance her studies and gain more opportunities as she juggles her full-time position.
Having part-time e-commerce is the norm nowadays. As we go online, we see more and more women venture into various types of businesses in industries that they are interested in, may it be fashion or beauty. But how does Camille’s business manage to stand above the rest? She used the power of social media and e-commerce to help her reach a broader audience:
“Digital transformation is becoming an essential stage in life for all of us. Having deeper understanding and skills on how various digital tools and software could boost your performance is how you’re going to stand out.”
Her advice to young women who are just beginning their careers like her?
“I would want them to know that it is okay to be afraid at first. But it is not okay to stay that way and not do anything about it. We talked about equality all the time. But if we want to fight for it, we will have to start showing results.Perform, speak up, and take action. Always seek to improve and don’t settle for the minimum.” Handling a full-time job and a side hustle can be a daunting task, but Camille chooses to be brave and face the challenges headstrong.
